.I'm a youth worker and so I hear the phrase 'YOLO' a lot. You Only Live Once. It's true. We're blessed with one life each. One. On average 80 years on this earth and heck I'm 30- nearly half way there! Anyone else? Anyway. We've created this blog to keep you up to date with our upcoming move to Istanbul in 2016. But it's about the journey not the destination right? So I'm starting to blog now. The challenge and adventure and joy of moving doesn't start when we board that plane next year, it starts now as we share with you our plans and dreams, and as we seek support to go, as we sell things on eBay and plan to wrap up our jobs and our home. And we forge precious memories with these we love in our community where we live now.
People ask me how I'm feeling about moving my family across the world (literally into the middle of the globe!).' Moving to the Middle East' - a phrase that provokes a lot of reactions- excitement, exotic mystery, fear and misunderstanding. I feel scared, I feel daunted, I feel excited, I feel numb at the same time, but one thing I don't feel is alone. Because I'm not. You Only Live Once. YOLO. So at 30, (I'll be 31 when we move) and when my head and the world tells me I'm slightly mad to entirely relocate my family, move to a country of a foreign tongue, of foreign ways, I choose to trust it will too, in time become home and so I'm going. YOLO.
